To the extended Lexington Youth Basketball Association community:
We hope everyone is safe and healthy. We’re all anxiously awaiting more information from the Lexington Public Schools regarding the 2020/2021 school year. Many of us are also waiting to hear from the various youth sports leagues about plans for upcoming seasons, especially as we seek out safe ways for our children to keep social connections with their friends and realize the many other benefits from team sports.
The Board of the Lexington Youth Basketball Association (LYBA) is considering different options with the goal of providing a safe opportunity for youth while adhering to the new safety protocols. However, there are many unknowns and other considerations most of which are out of our control at this time. We will reach back out when more information is available.
We also want to thank Seth Riney for his years serving as President of the LYBA Board. He has also been a coach as his three kids have been involved in the program over the past several years. We wish him and his family well as they leave Massachusetts to be closer to family.
And we are welcoming Mark Cautela as the new President of the Board. He served the last two years on the Board and played a pivotal role in the coordination with the MetroWest league while also coaching a boys team.
We look forward to being back in touch with more information regarding the 2020/2021 season.
